India has the fourth largest economy in the world, a growing
population that is fluent in English and highly educated, and
a government that is easing controls on private investment and

is one of the new features at the FITA Web site. The Mini Portal
is a good place to start your research. There is an overview
of the country, with facts about the language, currency, climate,
etc., plus more specific information about the economy, Indian
markets, taxes, labor market indicators, tips on doing business
in India, and a search engine to help you find free market research
on the Internet. There's also a news feed with the latest Indian
news.
Click on "Useful Links" and you'll find a variety of sources for
market research, trade leads, business directories, logistics,
government contacts, travel, financing, and lots more.
One of the links I found was the Australian

India Mini Portal.

BBC LANGUAGES
My wife speaks fluent French, so when we traveled to Paris years ago she did all
the talking (actually, that happens pretty much anywhere). The few times she left
me alone, however, I fumbled my way through conversations using my rusty high
school French. I wish the BBC

I could have used it. BBC Languages has the practical tools you need to communicate
in another language, whether you need just a few phrases to get by, or you want
a higher level of fluency. There are online courses with broadband video; BBC
films and documentaries; audio magazines; a Spanish language soap opera; and more.
You can find instruction in French, German, Italian, and Spanish, with shorter
courses in Chinese, Portugese, and Greek. Click on "Holiday Blunders" for some
hilarious stories of misunderstandings caused by poor language skills.

Every industry has its language, and international trade is no different. There's
a whole host of terms that pertain to trade, and anyone who wants to succeed in
the business should be familiar with them. AIB

I recently moved to a different part of my home state, and I'm still finding my
way around the highways and byways, learning the fastest routes for getting where
I want to go. Now that I've found the National
Traffic and Road Closure Information ( http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/trafficinfo/
) site I'll be able to plan my trips better. This U.S. Department of Transportation
site has information about traffic conditions, road construction, and public transit
systems for all 50 states. The link for my state has: information about current
and planned construction projects; a highway construction advisory map; real-time
traffic information; travel advisories; and more.
For outside the U.S., I found GetMeThere.co.uk
( http://www.getmethere.co.uk ), which has street maps, route
planners, and driving conditions for the UK and Europe.
