Hello International Traders!

John McDonnell here, with more sites to help you achieve success in international trade.

Israel has a diversified, tech-oriented economy with lots of potential for growth. If you'd want to look into Israel as a trading partner, I have a site in this issue to get you started. Interested in Latin America? I found a site with free, detailed reports on industries in that region. At Statemaster, another great site I found, you can get facts and figures about every U.S. State. Finally, I have a site that explains common mathematics concepts in simple, easy-to-understand language.

And don't forget -- if you'd like more information about international trade, go to FITA's Really Useful Links ( http://fita.org/webindex ), which has a link library of more than 8,000 sites related to international trade.

ISRAEL
Our Featured Country

Israel is a small country, but its economy has a lot to recommend it. Despite its size, Israel is among the world's top 50 countries in both imports and exports, and it's 39th in GDP per capita (purchasing power parity). It has a thriving high technology sector, and is second only to the U.S. in number of startup companies. If this sounds like a country you'd like to investigate for trade possibilities, a good site to visit is the Israel Ministry of Industry, Trade & Labor ( http://www.moit.gov.il ). To get started, click on "English" at the top of the page. This is an Israeli government site, and it has lots of useful information, including: statistics, highlights of research & development projects, trade agreements with other countries, reports and papers about the Israeli economy, city maps, tourist information, weather reports, a trade leads database ( http://www.export.gov.il/Eng/ ), useful links, and more.

You'll also find plenty of good research at the Israel Mini Portal ( http://fita.org/countries/israel.html ), a feature of the FITA Web site. The Israel Mini Portal has an overview of the country, with facts about the language, currency, climate, etc., plus more specific information about the economy, Israeli markets, taxes, labor market indicators, and tips on doing business in Israel.

Click on "Useful Links" and you'll find a variety of sources for market research, trade leads, business directories, logistics, government contacts, travel, financing, and lots more.

The Israel Mini Portal is one of many research gateways at the FITA site. To find Mini Portals for other regions or countries, just click on "Country Profiles" from within a Mini Portal, or at the FITA home page ( http://www.fita.org ).

The following associations are FITA member associations. Their sites offer more resources about doing business with Israel:

There are 450 million people in Latin America, and that's an economic bloc that no company can afford to ignore. Here you'll find economic and market research on 20 industrial sectors and 45 subsectors of the region, as well as reports on more than 500 of its top companies. Just scroll down the index and you'll see dozens of topics, from Agriculture to Water, that will interest you. Click on a topic and you'll find links to free reports you can download. EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT U.S. STATES AT STATEMASTER
Statistics about US States

If I were looking for a place to open a business in the U.S., or a neighborhood to move my family to, I'd visit Statemaster ( http://www.statemaster.com ). This site has facts and stats for U.S. States in just about every category you can think of. Want to know which State has the highest percentage of new houses? You'll find it here. How about the one with the most roller coasters per capita? Or the most Walmart stores? Or the most exports to Argentina? Or (and I have no idea how they found this out) the most residents who've lost their teeth? It's all here, and much more. This is a fun site that's easy to use, and whether you're looking for hard research or just interesting trivia, you can spend hours here. Besides statistical information, the site also has useful maps, and a detailed profile of each State.

MATH MADE EASY AT EQUMATH.NET
Math Lessons from Algebra to Differential Equations

Mathematics was never one of my strong suits in school. Where other students saw elegantly logical solutions to problems, I saw a morass of numbers that caused me to break out in a sweat. If I was in school today, I'd seek out EquMath.net ( http://equmath.net ). This site, created by mathematicians, has simple, easy-to-understand explanations of common math problems and concepts. There are no fancy graphics at this site, but you will find solid explanations to help you with algebra, trigonometry, calculus, and other areas of mathematics. This is a comprehensive site -- there are more than 3,700 pages of math explanations. If you click on "Useful Links" you'll find lots of other educational mathematics sites, too.
