Hello International Traders!

John McDonnell here, with more sites to help you achieve success in international trade.

Argentina has rebounded from its economic crisis, and its economy has had several years of robust growth -- and I have a site in this issue that will help you find success in this promising market. Also, I have the 2007 winners of the Skytrax world airline awards. Plus, whatever transportation information you need, I found a site that will point you in the right direction. Finally, you'll save money when you read the tips I found at the SmartMoney.com site.

And don't forget -- if you'd like more information about international trade, go to FITA's Really Useful Links ( http://fita.org/webindex ), which has a link library of more than 8,000 sites related to international trade.

ARGENTINA
Our Featured Country

Argentina went through an economic crisis in 2001-2002, but its recovery since then has been remarkable. Real GDP growth has averaged more than eight percent each year from 2003 to 2006, and is expected to be more than six percent in 2007. Inflation and unemployment are down, and trade numbers are up. If this seems like a country you'd like to research, a good site to visit is the U.S. Commercial Service Argentina profile ( http://www.comerciousa.org/argentina/En/setenglish.asp ). Here you'll find lots of information about Argentina, including market research, key industry highlights, business travel advice, trade events, and more. Of particular interest is the link to the Country Commercial Guide to Argentina ( http://www.buyusainfo.net/docs/x_3352726.pdf ), which has in-depth information about Argentine industries, trade regulations & standards, trade financing, the business climate, contacts, and doing business in Argentina.

You'll also find plenty of good research at the Argentina Mini Portal ( http://fita.org/countries/argentina.html ), a feature of the FITA Web site. The Argentina Mini Portal has an overview of the country, with facts about the language, currency, climate, etc., plus more specific information about the economy, markets, taxes, labor market indicators, and tips on doing business in Argentina. Click on "Useful Links" and you'll find a variety of sources for market research, trade leads, business directories, logistics, government contacts, travel, financing, and lots more.

The Argentina Mini Portal is one of many research gateways at the FITA site. To find Mini Portals for other regions or countries, just click on "Country Profiles" from within a Mini Portal, or at the FITA home page ( http://www.fita.org ).

FITA's Global Trade Book Store has some excellent books about doing business in Italy. Check out Doing Business in the New Latin America: A Guide to Cultures, Practices, and Opportunities, Doing Business in Argentina and Argentina - Culture Smart!: a quick guide to customs and etiquette.

The Argentina Florida Chamber of Commerce is a FITA member association. Their website offers more resources about doing business with Argentina. And click here to search the FITA Member Directory for links to FITA member associations' websites.

NJ TIDE CENTER IS A GOLD MINE OF TRANSPORTATION INFO
Transportation and Logistics Resources

Back in the early days of this newsletter I wrote about the New Jersey TIDE Center ( http://www.njtide.org/links/ ) because it had a comprehensive list of links to everything and anything related to transportation. I just paid a visit to the TIDE Center site, and found that it's even more useful than when I first profiled it. There are more sites, and more categories, and all of them look first-rate. Just click on a category in the left column, and you'll see hundreds of sites in that category. There are links to airports, railroads, trucking companies, freight forwarders, transit systems, schedules, maps, traffic reporting sites, transportation studies, government agencies, demographic information, images, newsletters & magazines about the industry, travel tips, and lots more. Looking for a shortcut? Click on "Indexes" and you'll see links to transportation portals that will help you find what you're looking for quicker.

LEARN THE BEST TIME TO BUY, AT SMARTMONEY.COM
Tips on When to Shop

I'm not always the smartest shopper. Instead of waiting for sales or discounts, I often make impulse buys, paying higher prices because I don't have the patience to wait till the best time to buy. I'd like to change that habit, with the help of SmartMoney.com's The Best Time To Buy Everything ( http://www.smartmoney.com/dealoftheday/index.cfm?story=20060905&pgnum=1 ). This site has lots of practical tips on when you should make your purchases, and it's amazing what they've found out in their research. For instance, did you know that the best time to buy airplane tickets is on a Wednesday, about 21 days before your flight? That's because airlines typically make price changes (and reductions) on Tuesday evenings or Wednesday mornings, and 21 days before the flight they'll come up with deals to fill seats. There are lots of tips like that at this site, and it's a good place to visit if you want to learn how to save money on your purchases.
