Hello International Traders! John McDonnell here with four more sites that will give you a
competitive edge in international trade research.
Kazakhstan is a success story in the making in Central Asia, and I
have a site in this issue to help you research this promising market.
Plus, I found a site where you can read foreign newspapers in your own
language, so you'll be up to date on what's happening around the
world. If you do international trade, you'll want to read the page I
found that has some practical tips about international trade law.
Finally, I found a site with lots of links to sites where you can save
money online -- always a good thing these days!
And don't forget -- if you'd like more information about international trade, go to FITA's Really Useful Links ( http://fita.org/webindex/ ), which has a link library of more than 8,000 sites related to international trade.
| KAZAKHSTAN Our Featured Country
Kazakhstan is a strategically located country in Central Asia with
vast natural resources. Those resources, plus a stable political
system, have helped the country's economy grow larger than all the
other Central Asian states combined. It just missed making the list of
the 50 largest world economies for both imports and exports in 2007,
but with continued development of its natural resources Kazakhstan is
sure to break into the top 50 in the near future. If this sounds like
a country you'd like to research for trade opportunities, a good site
to visit is the Kazakhstan country report (http://www.bisnis.doc.gov/bisnis/country/kazakhstan.cfm
) at BISNIS, a U.S. government site. Here you'll find links to all
sorts of information about Kazakhstan, including statistics, country
profiles, trade leads, government sites, business news, reports,
market updates, legal links, and much more. You can spend hours at
this site following the links.
You'll also find plenty of good research at the Kazakhstan Mini Portal ( http://fita.org/countries/kazak.html ), a feature of the FITA Web
site. The Kazakhstan Mini Portal has an overview of Kazakhstan, with
facts about the language, currency, climate, etc., plus more specific
information about the economy, markets, taxes, labor market
indicators, and tips on doing business in Kazakhstan.
Click on "Useful Links" and you'll find a variety of sources for
market research, trade leads, business directories, logistics,
government contacts, travel, financing, and lots more.
The Kazakhstan Mini Portal is one of many research gateways at the
FITA site. To find Mini Portals for other regions or countries, just
click on "Country Profiles" from within a Mini Portal, or at the FITA
home page ( http://www.fita.org ).

READ FOREIGN NEWS AT NEWSTRAN.COM News from Other Countries
If you're researching trade opportunities in a foreign market, it
helps to read the news coming from that country. Unfortunately, if
you're like me, you only read one language (two if you have teenage
children who text message you). Newstran.com ( http://www.Newstran.com
) solves that with its Multilingual MetaNews Translator™. This site
has free translations of 10,000 newspapers, and it's easy to use. You
just select the category you want (e.g., Arabic news in English,
English news in Chinese, etc.) and Newstran.com will give you a page
with links to translations of newspapers. You can click on a link to
read that newspaper. It's a great way to get other perspectives on
major news stories, and to see what's happening on the local level
around the world.
