Saudi Arabia
Opportunities in Difficult Times
Last week, a delegation of 15 large U.S. companies visited Saudi Arabia. The objective of this mission was twofold: to strengthen bilateral trade relations with Saudi Arabia, a key ally of the United States in the Middle East and to discuss opportunities for U.S. companies in the sector of new information technologies and communication.
Indeed, Saudi Arabia wants to become a regional leader in the field of information technology and communications. U.S. companies are seeking to offer their experience and expertise in this area.

Moreover, the Kingdom launched a national plan for the development of information technologies and communication.
The Saudi market already offers excellent opportunities for manufacturers and providers of DSL access switches, satellite links, fiber optic transceivers broadband PCs and laptops. According to available data, these product categories represent a turnover of nearly $ 3 billion. For the latest investment opportunities in this sector, you can visit the Saudi Authority for Investment - SAGIA
Saudi Arabia, a market of nearly 25 million inhabitants, is now seeking to diversify its economy from being too dependent on oil revenues. In this sense, the kingdom has put in place incentives to attract foreign companies: exemption from customs duties, land allocation, financial loans and other programs.

Global Shipping Costs
www.globalshippingcosts.com
When making an offer to sell a container of goods overseas, a crucial factor in determining the price is the shipping cost. Global Shipping Costs has developed a shipping costs calculator that provides shippers and other users generic shipping costs and shipping times for shipping merchandise to any part of the world. The calculation is based on a weighted average of a group of rates on a given route. It is an estimate but it can be useful to evaluate trade your costs and quote a profitable price.
WTO Trade Statistics Indicate Record Trade Growth
www.wto.org/english/news_e/pres11_e/pr628_e.htm
On April 7th the World Trade Organization held a press conference announcing the latest global trade statistics. Read the summary online.
Despite the financial crisis and global recession, in 2010 there was a record 14.5% surge in the volume of exports thanks to higher prices for primary commodities and the extraordinary growth of trade in developing Asia and the former Soviet Union, which grew 45%, the highest growth rate ever recorded in world export statistics. After this rebound, however, economists are forecasting a more modest 6.5% increase for 2011. "The figures show how trade has helped the world escape recession in 2010," WTO Director-General Pascal Lamy said. "However, the hangover from the financial crisis is still with us. High unemployment in developed economies and sharp belt-tightening in Europe will keep fuelling protectionist pressures."
