Vietnam
A gateway to South Asia
At a seminar organized jointly by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vietnam (VCCI) on business opportunities in Vietnam, which took place on July 14 in Baltimore, the participants all stressed the dynamism of the Vietnamese economy and the fact that there are many business opportunities for U.S. investors. Among the main assets of the country:
- A young technically-skilled workforce with English skills
- Socio-political stability
- Government commitment to liberalize the economy and introduce reforms based on free markets

Saigon, economic center |
|
Vietnam has emerged as one of the most dynamic economies in Southeast Asia and as a country increasingly considered by companies seeking to settle in the region. Since the normalization of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1995 the United States has become the largest international market for Vietnamese goods and its sixth-largest supplier. The economic reforms launched by the Vietnamese government and the country's openness to international trade (more than 100% of GDP), as well as its membership in international organizations such as the WTO and ASEM, have improved the standard of living of the Vietnamese population. GDP / per capita rose from $220 in 1994 to over $1,000 today. The percentage of population living on less than a dollar a day has declined significantly and is now less than in China, India or the Philippines.

Benefit from competitive advantage
export.gov/FTA/ftatarifftool/index.asp
Free trade agreements make it easier to export your product or service by creating a competitive advantage over similar products from other countries. Most of the advantages come from the elimination or reduction of tariff rates.
The FTA Tariff Tool provided by the International Trade Administration combines tariff and trade data into a simple and easy-to-search public interface. U.S. importers and exporters can see the current tariff and future tariffs applied to their products, as well as the date on which those products become duty-free.
Have a look at the Tariff Search the Market Access Reports Search or get out a Trade Snapshot corresponding to your product.
