Poland

According to figures recently published by the Polish Central Statistical Office (GUS) the Polish economy had a growth rate of about 4.3% in 2011, higher than forecasts of most analysts. This was the fourth highest GDP growth in 2011 in the European Union, after Estonia (+6.5%), Lithuania (+5.9%) and Sweden (4.4%). According to GUS, this growth was mainly driven by domestic demand, which rose 3.8% compared to 2010. Watch an amusing video about the Polish economic success at http://youtu.be/JC4xh1bO7ww. |

A member of the European Union since 2004, Poland has seen its economy grow stronger with community integration. The Polish economy has shown great resilience to the economic crises. Commercially, since joining the EU, exports to Poland increased by over 30%. Its three principal trading partners are Germany, Russia and France.
The United States is Poland’s 16th largest supplier and 10th largest customer. In 2010 the U.S. was the fifth largest foreign investor in Poland, accounting for 6.5% of total FDI received by the country. The American Chamber of Commerce in Poland celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2010 by publishing a report produced with the assistance of KPMG titled 20 Years of American Investment in Poland. It reports that the total amount invested by the United States in Poland since the beginning of economic liberalization, in 1989, has exceeded $20 billion. The main targets of U.S.FDI are business services and Research and Development (R & D). U.S. companies operating in the country employ nearly 180,000 people.
Poland, which will host the Euro 2012 football championship, has launched major construction projects: roads, airports, railways, stadiums. It also launched the construction of its first nuclear power plant. These are sectors that have real business opportunities for companies wishing to invest in a market considered the economic center of Eastern Europe.
