China
US-China cooperation to promote a stable recovery of the world economy
The Vice prime minister of China recently called the Chinese and American business communities to promote bilateral trade. For this to happened, the US-China Business Council, a non-governmental, non-profit institution aiming to promote economic and technological cooperation, may need to play a greater role with businesses wishing to operate in these markets. |

China is one of the most dynamic U.S. export markets. With 7.2% market share and a turnover of 21.5 billion USD in 2011, China is the third largest customer of the United States and its leading supplier (19.5% of U.S. total imports). U.S. exports to China have tripled over the past five years. Among its main U.S. products exported to China, are electrical equipment, agricultural products, motor vehicles, equipment used in aerospace industry, medical equipment, and organic chemicals.
Developing new business opportunities could allow, not only to iron out the numerous trade disputes opposing China and the U.S., but also to broaden the spectrum of their common interests. From the perspective of a global economic recovery, improving trade relations between these two giants is a necessary step, if not mandatory.
