OUR FEATURED COUNTRY: India
|
A trade mission of around twenty American companies visited India between October 15 and 19 to explore potential business opportunities offered by the Indian architecture and engineering industries. India is currently experiencing an economic boom and offers multiple opportunities in the field of infrastructure. The country has announced that over the next five years it intends to invest one billion American dollars in this sector. This investment will be primarily used to open new shopping centers and constructing residential buildings, hotels and tourist facilities. It is also trying to import foreign expertise to complete these different projects.
IIn recent years, many American delegations have visited India. Trade relations between the United States and India have grown stronger. In 2011, the U.S. was India’s second largest client (accounting for 10.9% of the country’s export market) and its fifth largest supplier (4.9% of imports). During the first months of 2012 (January to August), U.S. imports from India increased by 14.4% compared to the same period in 2011. For American companies looking to develop long-term partnerships with their Indian counterparts there are numerous opportunities in the areas of port infrastructure, commercial office buildings, shopping centers, hospitals and airports. |
